5 Dehydrating Drinks | Drinks that actually dehydrate you | KC DietConslt | Dt. Nupur

With word "Drinks" we refer as "Hydration". But as like not every yellow is gold similarly not every drink is hydratiny.
But most of us have massive misconception of looking at drinks as hydrating supplement. It is really required to realise the truth..

Truth - Every Drink isn't Hydrating

But one thing we all know is important - Hydration, Hydration, Hydration.
Drinking enough liquid to keep fluid level in body topped up is really important to stay healthy.

Importance of Hydration in Body-
* To regulate body temperature
* Prevent infection
* Proper organs functioning
* Good sleep, mood and skin
* More energy

So it is always high priority to have enough liquid in body to stay hydrated.
While we all know Water is ultimate hydrator. Still we all end up drinking any kind of fluids that are actually Dehydrating our bodies in name of Hydration.

Most of the beverages we love to drink so often are in real dehydrating. These hydrating assumed dehydrating drinks include Diuretics agents that cause body to produce and pass more urine than it otherwise wouls and thus have potential to dehydrate us.

So to now not to get in trap such dehydrating drinks. Here are top 5 Dehydrating Drinks -

1. Coffee
The main active ingredient in coffee — is a diuretic, which means it can have a dehydrating effect. This means when you drink coffee, urine output increases. In general, dehydration occurs when your body’s fluid balance is altered, particularly when fluid loss is greater than fluid intake and results in dehydration.

2. Tea
When you drink a cup of coffee or tea, you are necessarily taking in a volume of fluid along with that dose of caffeine.
Tea alike coffee contains a mild diuretic. Caffeine.
Tea especially consumed in moderate quantities is unlikely to have any dehydrating effects. However, consuming large amounts of tea — for instance, more than 8 cups at once may have an insignificant dehydrating effect.

3. Regular/Diet Soda
A can of either or diet soda may seem to quench your thirst, but again the caffeine contained in most popular drinks is a diuretic, which can cause dehydration. The high levels of sodium and sugar in soda can also contribute to dehydration.

4. Beer/Wine/Cocktails
These liquor drinks tends to have a much higher alcohol content and significantly less liquid than other alcoholic drinks, which can contribute to dehydration.

5. High Protein Smoothies
Smoothies or Shakes with too much protein can cause mild dehydration. The dehydration is caused by your kidneys working overtime to remove the excess protein as well as the nitrogen waste from metabolizing the protein, so you urinate too much and eventually can wreck your kidneys and dehydrate your body.
